The sawmill

Built in 1913 by Stefano Viani, it was the first sawmill in Valvestino. It was a sawmill “in the Venetian style”, a type of sawmill which became popular in many Alpine areas in the 17th century in which timbers were cut with a large vertical saw driven by a connected hydraulic wheel. Acquired by the Feltrinelli company, it was in operation until the 1950s when it was eventually replaced by the adjacent electric sawmill. The sawmill was rebuilt by ERSAF in 2013.
